When to add waste
Waste is normal for flooring, tile, turf, and similar materials.
Use a small waste allowance when pieces are easy to trim and reuse. Use more when you have diagonals, pattern matching, or fragile material.
For plain rectangular rooms, 5% can be enough. For tighter layouts or patterned tile, 8% to 12% is more common.
